By noon, there still hadn't been any sign of George. Though to be honest, after what had happened that morning, Mitchell wasn't so certain he was unhappy about that. Let him be out for a while, and keep Tully with him.

He wasn't going to make the same mistake again.

Unfortunately, that meant he was stuck in Bristol for however long it took them to get George to see reason-- making class tomorrow an impossible dream. He made sure Annie was feeling all right before slipping into his own room, searching for his mobile. He found it sitting on the floor near the saxophone and picked it up, dialing a number quickly.

"Oh, I think it's done messing with us for a while, again." Hoped. She hoped it was. "But I'll keep that in mind. In case it makes me throw another tea party."

"...You threw a tea party?"

It was funny how Mitchell's voice could go from serious to completely incredulous in under five seconds like that.

"For Puck's birthday," Kate said, and even sounded like she was making a face. "While acting like a demented fifties housewife. Chirping like a fucking hummingbird."

"Oh my God," said Mitchell.

And nothing more. Well. "Oh my God."

"Shut up," Kate said, scowling. "It was traumatic. I was like Alice." Beat. "On speed."

"Should I start booking you for parties now?" Mitchell asked, "Kitchen princess?"

"Shut. Up."

It didn't matter that she'd chosen to tell him; she could still be grumpy.

... About getting exactly the reaction she'd expected. Yeah.

"It's not funny."

"Didn't you miss out on the last few rounds of Fandom insanity, or am I misremembering that?"

"That doesn't mean I should have to end up all... blushing and proper," she argued.

"Could've been worse," Mitchell pointed out. "You could've been a nun." He was trying very hard not to laugh.

Not hard enough, if you asked Kate. "Can't see how that would've been any different," she muttered. "Except I wouldn't have had to wear those heels all day."

"More prayer," Mitchell pointed out, "And you'd have to wear nothing but black and white, and get up at arse o'clock in the morning."

"I already did get up at a time no sane person would," Kate countered. She adopted that annoying fairytale princess voice to add, "Cakes and muffins and scones don't bake themselves, dear."

"But was it five AM?" he asked. This was important.

A little after six, actually, but still. It was too early!
