Office #26, Thursday

[chosehumanity]

Beyond the short blip in the afternoon where he spent some time overseeing ASS (and hoping to God Emmett and Gabrielle wouldn't make one out of themselves that time, usually futilly), Mitchell was in his office today. He had some coffee and a bag of biscuits he'd bought at Turtle & Canary that morning.

He also had a phone, and a remote, between which he alternated. Tonight was George's Time of the Month, and they had some safety issues to iron out.

On the other hand, there was... okay, there was nothing on BBC World.

Sigh.

"Mutant otters?" Kate asked, crossing back over to her chair. There'd be a fresh pot of coffee ready in a moment. She wasn't going to stand around waiting for it.

"Sounds a little too Fandom-y."

"Well, it's that, or Asia Today," Mitchell replied, with a shrug. "It's lady's choice."

Kate sighed. "Oh, fine. Mutant otters it is. Still beats trying to find other sources of entertainment."

Mitchell obediently clicked the TV back to the film with the mutan otters. They were just starting to grow bigger because of the waste they'd just consumed.

Also, it was in Japanese.

"I'm glad you see things my way."

"Yes, well, sometimes that happens," she said idly, eyeing the TV. Clearly this was going to be the best film ever. "By accident."

"I'm sure," Mitchell said. He sounded like he didn't believe it at all. "How long until they start stomping Tokyo, you think?"

Kate shrugged, glancing at him. "Ten, fifteen minutes? Depends on if they still gotta introduce any heroes." A pause. "Don't think I didn't hear that tone."

[chosehumanity]

"Did you, now?"

[vanillajello]

"No, actually I just went completely deaf."

Sarcasm was such a good second language.

[chosehumanity]

"You might want to see the school nurse," Mitchell posited. ... "...Do we have a school nurse?"

[vanillajello]

"I don't even know," Kate said, raising her eyebrows. "I'm more familiar with the whole emergency hospital or patch-up station thing."

[chosehumanity]

Mitchell made a faint noise. "You'd think they'd tell us about that."

[vanillajello]

"Think they expect all our injuries to be too major for a school nurse. Or, if we go looking for her, she turns out to be completely insane." Beat. "Like Vice Principal Deadpool in a nurse outfit."

[chosehumanity]

...

Mitchell pulled a face. A massive, massive face. Ew. "Please don't talk about that," he said, "I'm having enough trouble knowing he's got a partner and a child."

"... He does?"

Well, now they could just both be pulling a face.

[chosehumanity]

"Apparently he's seeing the mayor."

Yeah.

Mitchell would take this opportunity to drink some more coffee.

"... The mayor."

Kate let that just sit there for a moment, before feeling the intense need to press both her hands against her face.

"Why did I move to this fucked up town?"
